Dead Red is about as near root beer as a cream soda, so it's actually a good one to pick up if you want to try something different from your standard root beer.

It does taste red, I'm not sure how, but it might have something to do with the Brazilian Guarana.

It's a pretty good soda, especially if you're looking to branch out. But notice it does have some caffeine and if you're looking to take a nap soon, don't have one of these first.
